EXPLORE LIFE AT RICE

What if you could get a first-hand
look at life at Rice

  • From family and friends to finally being able to spend time with one another, there's a lot to be thankful for this year. Before our students break for Thanksgiving, we went around campus and asked what they are thankful for.

  • There's millions of ways that Rice students spend their four-day weekend known as Midterm Break, and we got photos from one group's idea of fun: a road trip in Texas to Canyon Lake!

  • Meet Anthony, a student EMS provider and volunteer for REMS, Rice Emergency Medical Services, through some photos he captured (safely) as he made his way through a shift with REMS!

  • We love the experience new students get at O-Week at Rice University, but none of it could happen with the many, many students who come back from their summer early to be O-Week Advisors! We asked a few of them to tell us why they wanted to be an advisor as well as why they absolutely loved the experience.

  • As you begin to learn more about Rice University's residential college system, you might wonder if all students live there for all four years - the answer is no! While some students think finding off campus housing is intimidating, it's really not, so we asked one recent Rice grad who lived off campus last year to demystify the off campus housing experience for us.

  • We not only celebrate, but actively seek out broad diversity across our student body as a central and meaningful part of the student experience at Rice University, which includes support for making the transition to campus. Check out these resources we've compiled for Black students coming to Rice.

  • Thinking about coming to Rice, but worried you don't know what to expect? Take some advice from current Owls on what is great about Rice University, and why they loved their choice coming here.

  • Do you like coffee? If so, Rice's campus is the place for you! Learn more about student's favorite places to grab some fuel as they study.

  • Our intern, Devika, reflects on her experience interviewing Provost Reginald DesRoches, the next president of Rice University. Be sure to watch her interview with the provost at the end!

  • It's the end of December, which means it's time to take a look back at the fall semester.

  • Finals are here at Rice, and before students tackle their many papers, projects and tests comes study breaks! Our interns Devika and Naman are back with another blog post about all the best ways to relax around campus.

  • Rice's Culture of Care is easiest to understand not through a definition but by seeing it in action. Check out one of our favorite ways Rice Magisters support their students around the holiday season. Pictures by Arie O., McMurtry '24.
