Jack, a sophomore at Rice, had the opportunity to travel to the Bay Area for an externship experience with Richard Beard Architects. Not only did Jack gain a deeper understanding of real-life architectural design and construction during his externship, but he also discovered a dynamic new city and its rich culture along the way.
The Owl Edge Externship Program at Rice is offered through the Center for Career Development (CCD) and provides undergraduate students with the unique opportunity to explore different careers and industries through short-term, hands-on learning experiences. Navya, Jones ‘27, spent a few days over winter recess shadowing a Rice alumnus at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. One of only two undergraduate students in the Shepherd School of Music’s Musicology Department, Wenshi has a deep passion for music, history and technology. Wenshi’s studies have led her to explore how these fields intersect and bridge the gap between the performing arts and modern technology.
