  • At Rice, the residential college system forms the backbone of our unique student experience. Not only is getting involved with your residential college an incredibly rewarding experience, it also provides an opportunity to connect with and contribute to your community. Anirudh Gupta, a junior studying mathematical economic analysis, shares some of the ways that he is involved at Wiess College!

  • At Rice, all enrolled students are welcome to participate in the Intramural (IM) Sports program, which includes residential college sports and club sports. With over 15 different sports options, Rice Owls can play anything from flag football to innertube water polo! Playing an IM sport is a great way to meet students from other residential colleges, graduate students, and Rice faculty and staff!

  • Navya (Jones '27), a sophomore majoring in social sciences, recently took on the role of student advisor for Orientation Week. O-Week advisors help new students transition smoothly to life at Rice. From serving on the hype squad to helping out with course registration, our student advisors are the perfect introduction to the culture of care that Rice is known for! 

  • Welcome to Valentine's Day at Rice University's residential colleges! In this blog post, we'll explore the unique traditions shared by our dedicated adult core teams (A-Teams) at our residential colleges. Join us in exploring the diverse ways in which the adult core teams infuse the spirit of Valentine's Day into the fabric of student life through culinary creativity, seasonal decorations and hands-on activities.

  • The food scene in Houston is simply unmatched. Ranked top 20 Best Campus Food by the Princeton Review, Rice's serveries are tough to beat too. This year, Rice's Housing and Dining department started a new paid internship program where current Rice students have the opportunity to work in their college serveries and serve their very own peers.

  • The residential colleges are an essential part to a student's experience here at Rice. Within each college, there is a team of adults called the "A-Team" who are responsible for providing academic, emotional, and social support throughout your time here. Check out this video to learn about the different A-team roles and what they do for their students!

  • Many of the residential colleges at Rice find fun ways to celebrate their founding. Learn about Duncan's annual tradition, Duncan Week, celebrating the birthday of their college and other unique traditions.

  • Rice prides itself on its student-led government system, deeply embedded into college culture. Take a look at each of the different positions in the government, including some fun ones as well! 

  • Many of the residential colleges at Rice find fun ways to celebrate their founding. Learn about McMurtry's annual tradition, McScottish Week, celebrating the Scottish heritage of their college's founders.

  • We love the experience new students get at O-Week at Rice University, but none of it could happen with the many, many students who come back from their summer early to be O-Week Advisors! We asked a few of them to tell us why they wanted to be an advisor as well as why they absolutely loved the experience.
