What if you could get a first-hand
look at life at Rice

  • At Rice, all enrolled students are welcome to participate in the Intramural (IM) Sports program, which includes residential college sports and club sports. With over 15 different sports options, Rice Owls can play anything from flag football to innertube water polo! Playing an IM sport is a great way to meet students from other residential colleges, graduate students, and Rice faculty and staff!

  • Rice University kicked off the start of Latine Heritage Month with food and festivities! Berny (McMurtry ‘26) shares how Rice students celebrate the history, contributions and achievements of Latino/a/e/x communities during this very special month.

  • Rice Owls of Color United, or ROC-U, is an organization within the Rice Athletics Department that is dedicated to empowering BIPOC student-athletes in all aspects of their collegiate experience. The organization serves Rice Athletics, Rice University and the Houston community through outreach events and service initiatives. Keep reading to learn more about this affinity group at Rice.

  • Sharing culture not only fortifies communities from within but also fosters connections across diverse groups. At Rice, this principle resonates deeply with our student body. Every year, cultural organizations host vibrant showcases to share and celebrate one another’s identity on campus through food, dance, art, and music. Showcases serve as a way to cultivate appreciation and respect for each other’s diverse experiences and upbringing. And frankly put, they are quite fun! Below, we present a glimpse into some of the many events and activities that are put on by cultural clubs on Rice’s campus.

  • Rice students, whether through research or community service, strive to embody the values of innovation and care by prioritizing the health and wellbeing of their fellow students. Student-led health initiatives are a pivotal part of the university’s efforts to encourage students to learn beyond the classroom. Take a look below at just a few of the student-led health initiatives that are embedded in Rice’s Culture of Care.

  • The MOB's vibrant and spirited performances have become a staple at Rice football games, and their unique style of scattering into various formations on the field while playing good music adds an element of entertainment to every game.

  • Our three-part Student Run Business series showcases our on-campus businesses that are completely run and managed by Rice students. This episode highlights The Hoot, a snack shop serving all sorts of hot food and much-needed snacks to fulfill those late night cravings.

  • Though Rice has recently added a business major for undergraduates, there has been a thriving community of business students and organizations at Rice for years! Joining a business-related club is a great way to learn about potential career paths, develop business skills, and make new friends.

  • Our three-part Student Run Business series showcases our on-campus businesses that are completely run and managed by Rice students. This episode highlights Rice Bikes, a bike resale and repair shop that has been in business for the last two decades, serving students and the Houston community. 

  • Going back home and enjoying the holidays with friends and family is difficult for many international students. So what do they do during their winter break? Read along to hear about a few students’ experiences spending their alternative winter break.

  • Rice University prides itself on its diverse student body, celebrating a myriad of cultures and identities. Whether it's the Rice African Student Association Africayé fashion show or Chinese Student Association’s boba fundraisers, connecting cultures on campus is an integral mission at Rice.
