EXPLORE LIFE AT RICE

What if you could get a first-hand
look at life at Rice

  • At Rice, our undergraduate students have the freedom to combine interests and create their own academic paths. Zack, a junior from Jones College, is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science degree while also working two different research positions!

  • At Rice, all enrolled students are welcome to participate in the Intramural (IM) Sports program, which includes residential college sports and club sports. With over 15 different sports options, Rice Owls can play anything from flag football to innertube water polo! Playing an IM sport is a great way to meet students from other residential colleges, graduate students, and Rice faculty and staff!

  • Rice University kicked off the start of Latine Heritage Month with food and festivities! Berny (McMurtry ‘26) shares how Rice students celebrate the history, contributions and achievements of Latino/a/e/x communities during this very special month.

  • Navya (Jones '27), a sophomore majoring in social sciences, recently took on the role of student advisor for Orientation Week. O-Week advisors help new students transition smoothly to life at Rice. From serving on the hype squad to helping out with course registration, our student advisors are the perfect introduction to the culture of care that Rice is known for!

  • A summer at Rice is anything but ordinary! See how Office of Admission intern Berny took the Rice spirit to new heights this summer.

  • Rice Owls accomplish amazing things after graduation! Michelle Fokam, Rice alumna and track and field star, shares how she forged her own path to represent the country of Cameroon in international track and field events.

  • Our students at Rice University have all sorts of interests and hobbies! As a lifelong LEGO fan with a love for construction, mechanical engineering senior Andrew Linhart set off to build a LEGO scale model of the Rice campus with a group of fellow Rice students.

  • As early May rolls around, the existential fear of graduation is slowly sinking in for seniors across campus. Office of Admission interns Naman and Devika matriculated into Rice in 2020, a year that many of us remember all too well. Unfortunately, at the time, all of Rice’s traditional matriculation festivities had come to a halt. As campus has returned to normalcy, the senior class has been fortunate enough to experience a wealth of festivities this year. Read below for some of our interns’ experiences as McMurtry and Martel College seniors!

  • Rice recently welcomed admitted students and their families to campus for Owl Days 2024! An all-day program for admitted students, Owl Days is an opportunity for students to explore Rice University and its surrounding area. The Class of 2028 connected with fellow Owls, learned more about what the next four years may look like, and also experienced Rice's community, academics and culture of care. Watch our video to see highlights from the event!

  • Naman and Devika visited the Rice University Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center to explore the diverse opportunities available for students. From workouts and group classes to outdoor activities and wellness programs, the Rice University Rec Center offers something for everyone. Join Naman and Devika as they guide us through the Rec, showcasing the wide range of activities and amenities it has to offer.

  • Want to see what it’s like to live off campus at Rice? Take a look at a day in the life of Andrew, Martel ‘24

  • As winter break approaches, there's a sense of gratitude in the air. Office of Admission interns Devika and Naman went around campus to ask students what they're thankful for this year. Watch our video to see the responses. We hope you have a restful break!
