One of only two undergraduate students in the Shepherd School of Music’s Musicology Department, Wenshi Chen has a deep passion for music, history and technology. Wenshi’s studies have led her to explore how these fields intersect and bridge the gap between the performing arts and modern technology.

At Rice, all enrolled students are welcome to participate in the Intramural (IM) Sports program, which includes residential college sports and club sports. With over 15 different sports options, Rice Owls can play anything from flag football to innertube water polo! Playing an IM sport is a great way to meet students from other residential colleges, graduate students, and Rice faculty and staff!

Jack (Baker ‘27) is a Rice architecture student who recently had the opportunity to explore how the city of Paris has helped shape modern art, film and architecture. Hosted by the Rice Global Paris Center (RGP), Jack spent an incredible month in Paris seeing famous sights and connecting their ties to art history.

At Rice Architecture, students are encouraged to both see and experience architecture's relevance in the world. Jack, a sophomore at Rice, recently spent a week studying abroad in Singapore through Rice Architecture's Global Workshops program. A new initiative that was launched this past summer, the program takes architecture students worldwide to conduct research or engage in creative projects.
