EXPLORE LIFE AT RICE

What if you could get a first-hand
look at life at Rice

  • Our three-part Student Run Business series showcases our on-campus businesses that are completely run and managed by Rice students. This episode highlights The Hoot, a snack shop serving all sorts of hot food and much-needed snacks to fulfill those late night cravings.

  • Our Academic Projects at Rice series highlights different student projects within each school of study. This Engineering at Rice post highlights Lily's internship working with a research associate at the Baker Institute of Public Policy, exploring the interdisciplinary intersections of public policy and environmental engineering.

  • At Rice, we encourage students to explore their academic interests across borders through study abroad. With over 200 programs across all seven continents (including Antarctica), there are plenty of options for students to explore that may not be offered at Rice. Read along to hear about Devika's experience at Milan Fashion Week during her program this semester!

  • Rice Owls often remark that campus is a bubble. Although our campus is always active and has many events put on for students, the city of Houston has many options too. Throughout the semester, Nimah and Devin have been using their weekends to explore Houston’s bakeries, restaurants, markets, libraries, and more to immerse themselves in the greater Houston community & culture.

  • Though Rice has recently added a business major for undergraduates, there has been a thriving community of business students and organizations at Rice for years! Joining a business-related club is a great way to learn about potential career paths, develop business skills, and make new friends.

  • Our three-part Student Run Business series showcases our on-campus businesses that are completely run and managed by Rice students. This episode highlights Rice Bikes, a bike resale and repair shop that has been in business for the last two decades, serving students and the Houston community.

  • Going back home and enjoying the holidays with friends and family is difficult for many international students. So what do they do during their winter break? Read along to hear about a few students’ experiences spending their alternative winter break.

  • Take a look at some of our most memorable moments from this past semester in our Fall 2022 recap video. We hope everybody stays safe and warm this winter, and on behalf of our Office of Admission, Happy Holidays!

  • The Rice Program Council (RPC) hosts various campus-wide events and gives students the opportunity to explore Houston by offering subsidized or free tickets to local events. Read along to hear about one student's experience at the Houston Ballet's Nutcracker performance as a part of RPC's Passport to Houston program!

  • As a leading research university with a distinctive commitment to undergraduate education, Rice University aspires to pathbreaking research, unsurpassed teaching, and contribution to the betterment of our world. It seeks to fulfill this mission by cultivating a diverse community of learning and discovery that produces leaders across the spectrum of human endeavor.

  • The food scene in Houston is simply unmatched. Ranked top 20 Best Campus Food by the Princeton Review, Rice's serveries are tough to beat too. This year, Rice's Housing and Dining department started a new paid internship program where current Rice students have the opportunity to work in their college serveries and serve their very own peers.
