- For Filipino American History Month, the Department of Transnational Asian Studies, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and Anakbayan Rice invited the Cultural Ambassadors of the Filipino Young Professionals of Houston for a performance of Filipino folk dances.
- Did you know? To date, 14 NASA astronauts have graduated from Rice!
- Students came out to Rice stadium to celebrate the 60th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's historic "moonshot" speech.
- When they aren't hosting events, the Asia Society Texas also features art from members of the Asian diaspora.
- The performances, led by this presenter from the Asia Society Texas, were one of the highlights of the festival.
- Choosing an experience abroad means Rice students can not only provide their skills to nonprofits and gain real-world skills, but also make memories with lifelong friends.
- Mehek spent 8 amazing weeks in Nairobi, Kenya, working with The Pangea Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women and youth, and had some fun experiences along the way!
- Arinze, a Loewnestern Fellow with the Center for Civic Leadership, traveled to Medellín, Colombia to work with a nonprofit, Pygmalion Tech.
- Mock Bike gives new students a chance to establish their college spirit, shown here as Bakerites pose in front of their college mascot, and holding up the number one to remind everyone that “Baker comes first," since they were the first residential college on campus.
- Students from all the colleges (such as a new McMurtry student here) get pumped for Mock Bike, where they root for their colleges by screaming their college chants at other colleges and repping their college colors with accessories and paint.
- The President's Welcome not only featured food but colleges, such as Wiess College pictured here, got to show off their O-Week Dance!
- President DesRoches hosted his first President's Welcome where he greeted new students, served some classic Texas BBQ, and provided a warm and welcoming atmosphere for their first week on campus.
